Cleaning is not a safety check A short link can hide its destination, and this tool does not expand it. Follow a shortened link only if you trust the sender.
Why the extra parameters matter
Campaign parameters were designed to tell a site which post or email sent you. They work, which is why they spread, and they travel with the link wherever it is copied. Posting a cleaned link avoids handing that history to the next person who clicks.
What is kept
Anything the page needs to load correctly stays. Search terms, page numbers, video timestamps, document identifiers, and access tokens are left alone, because removing them would change what the link opens.
What is not checked
The tool does not open the link, does not resolve shorteners, and does not scan for malware. It reports the address you pasted with the known tracking parameters taken out.
Is the link sent anywhere?
No. The address is parsed in the page and never leaves it, so the destination site has no record of the visit.
Can it expand a short link?
Expanding means requesting the link, which would defeat the point of the tool. Use the shortener's own preview page when you need to see where one leads.
Will a cleaned link still work?
Almost always. If a site uses a tracking parameter to decide what to show, the cleaned link may land on the plain version of the page. Compare the two if it matters.
