Sign in and start writing. Keep notes, checklists, and images in a card grid or list, with labels, pins, search, and in-app reminders. No recovery secret is needed for ordinary Notes.

What the notes editor does
Enough structure to keep a personal archive usable, without turning writing into a project.
In-app reminders
Give a note a date and time, then find it in Reminders. These are reminders inside the workspace; they do not send email or background notifications.
Archive and search
Search runs on your device across titles, body text, labels, and checklist items. Archived notes have their own view. Deleted ordinary notes can be restored from Trash for 30 days.

Ordinary Notes is private to your account. Content reaches the server over HTTPS and is encrypted at rest with a server-managed key, so the service can technically decrypt it. Account access is enough to reopen it.
Creating an optional Vault generates a random encryption key and a recovery secret. The secret wraps the key; the wrapped key is stored on the server, and the unwrapped key exists only in the browser tab you unlocked.
When the tab closes, the key is gone from memory. The next visit asks for the recovery secret again unless you keep the vault open.
What that means in practice
- Ordinary Notes works without setting up Vault
- Existing encrypted notes remain in Vault
- The service cannot read Vault notes without your key
- Keep the Vault recovery kit safe; support cannot replace it
Can I use notes without an account?
The paste, image, and template tools work signed out. Notes need an account because they are saved across your devices.
Does signing in with Google change the encryption?
No. Google and GitHub sign-in replace the password step only. They are never used as the encryption key, and they cannot unlock a vault on their own.
Can I import from Google Keep?
Yes. Export from Takeout and preview supported JSON files on the import page. Choose ordinary Notes or Vault before confirming. Vault requires setup or unlock. Trashed notes are skipped, and attachment references are listed; the attachment files themselves are not imported.
What if I stop using the service?
Download an export of everything in your account, then delete the account. Deleting an account removes stored records. Ordinary notes are readable in the export; Vault content remains encrypted and needs your recovery secret. Keep the archive somewhere private.
