A message that can only be read once
A one-time secret is a private link with a single view. The moment it is opened, the encrypted text is deleted from our server. If the person you sent it to says it was already opened, you know someone else got there first.
Good uses
- Sending a new password to a colleague or family member
- Sharing a 2FA backup code or recovery phrase
- Passing on a door code or locker combination
Questions
Is this end-to-end encrypted?
Yes. Encryption happens in your browser and the key lives only in the link. We can't read the secret, even before it is opened.
What if nobody opens it?
It is deleted when it expires, after 24 hours by default.
Should I add a password?
Add one if the link might be seen by others, for example in a shared channel. Send the password through a different app.
