Encrypt a file

Encrypt any file with a password before you send or store it. Argon2id and AES-256-GCM, run in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

How the encryption works

  1. Your password is stretched with Argon2id, which makes guessing slow even on powerful hardware.
  2. The file is split into 1 MB pieces and each is sealed with AES-256-GCM, so any change or truncation is detected.
  3. You get a .enc file to send or store anywhere. Only someone with the password can open it, using this same page.

Questions

Is my file uploaded?

No. Encryption and decryption run in your browser. The file never leaves this tab.

What if I forget the password?

The file can't be opened by anyone, including us. There's no reset.

How do I share the password?

Use a different channel from the file, for example send the file by email and the password with a one-time secret.
