Config scrubber

Replace common secret values and PEM blocks in supported configuration text. Review a local preview of simple .env, INI, YAML or JSON settings.

Up to 2 MiB and 50,000 lines. Supports valid JSON and simple .env, INI or indented YAML settings. YAML inline objects, aliases, tags and multiline quoted values are refused. JSON is limited to 64 nesting levels and 100,000 values.

Common password, token, key, cookie and credential fields are replaced. PEM values and multiline scalar blocks are removed. Comments are removed from simple settings. Detection can miss secrets stored under other names.

Paste configuration text to begin.

Keep the settings, replace the credentials

Configuration examples often mix ordinary options with passwords, API keys, access tokens and connection strings. The scrubber replaces values under common secret key names. You can add exact names for settings specific to your application.

PEM key and certificate values are removed. Multiline scalar blocks in simple YAML are replaced as a whole because they can hold credentials or embedded configuration. Credential URLs are replaced, including those stored under an ordinary key such as endpoint. Comments are removed from simple settings.

Supported formats have limits

Valid JSON is rebuilt with indentation and checked recursively. The line parser supports simple .env assignments, INI sections and indented YAML key/value settings. It refuses YAML aliases, tags, inline structured values, shell expansion and multiline quoted strings. A refused input produces no cleaned preview.

This tool does not load configuration, expand variables, read referenced files or contact a service. It processes UTF-8 text up to 2 MiB and 50,000 lines in your browser. JSON is limited to 64 nesting levels and 100,000 values.

Review every retained value

A secret stored under an unexpected name can remain. Public keys, hostnames, database names and project paths can also identify a system. Compare the preview with the original and check what is left before sharing. The scrubbed copy is a troubleshooting example, not a replacement for your working configuration.
