Private text, through any app
Email, SMS and many chat apps can be read by the companies that carry them, and messages stay in inboxes and backups for years. Encrypt the message here with a password, paste the result anywhere, and send the password another way, like a phone call. Only someone with the password can read it.
How it's protected
The password is stretched with Argon2id (64 MB of memory per guess, which makes guessing slow), then the message is encrypted with AES-256-GCM. Any change to the encrypted text is detected. The link version keeps the message after the #, which browsers never send to a server.
Questions
Do you store the message?
No. Unlike a private link, nothing is saved on our server. The encrypted text is the message.
How is this different from a private link?
A private link stores the encrypted message for a while and can expire or self-destruct. An encrypted message never expires, works in any app, and doesn't need our server to keep anything.
What if I forget the password?
The message can't be recovered. There's no reset, by design.
