What every website sees
Each time you load a page, the site gets your IP address, which reveals your rough location and internet provider, plus headers describing your browser and language. Scripts can then read dozens of details about your device to tell you apart from other visitors.
Reducing what you share
- A trusted VPN or Tor hides your IP address. Run the WebRTC test to check it isn't leaking.
- Firefox with strict tracking protection, Brave and Tor Browser make fingerprints less unique.
- Turn on Global Privacy Control to tell sites not to sell or share your data.
Questions
Do you keep my IP address?
This page shows it back to you and doesn't store it. Our web server's access logs keep IPs for up to 14 days for abuse protection.
Is the fingerprint sent anywhere?
No. It's worked out in your browser and only shown to you.
