SVG is more than an image
An SVG can contain editor details, scripts, event handlers, links and resources loaded from other sites. This tool parses XML and builds a new drawing from a restricted set of SVG elements and attributes. It does not insert the original file into the page.
Review the sanitized preview
The preview uses only the rebuilt copy. Supported shapes, gradients, text and clipping can remain. CSS, images, animation, filters, reusable use references and unsupported elements are removed, so some drawings will look different. Metadata, comments and editor namespaces are excluded.
Visible text and shapes can still reveal personal information. If you keep title and description elements, review those too. The sanitized file is a limited drawing format, not a guarantee about every application that might open it.
Local limits
Files are limited to 4 MiB, 20,000 supported elements and 64 levels of nesting. Document types and XML entities are rejected. No external resource is fetched by the cleaner.
