What a ZIP can reveal
Archive entries can store modification dates, comments, extra fields and folder names. Mac and Windows may add files such as .DS_Store, ._filename and Thumbs.db. This tool removes selected junk and rebuilds the archive with neutral ZIP headers.
Check the files inside as well
Repacking a ZIP does not clean an image, document or recording inside it. Those bytes stay unchanged. Use the relevant file cleaner first if you need to remove inner metadata. File names can also identify people or projects.
Flattening puts files at the archive root. If names collide, a numbered suffix keeps both files. This can break software projects and other formats that depend on folders or relative paths. The output is stored without compression and can be larger.
Supported archives
Standard stored and deflated ZIP entries are checked locally, including checksums. The tool rejects unsafe paths, links, ambiguous names, encrypted entries, ZIP64 and split archives. The limits are 32 MiB input, 64 MiB expanded and 1,000 entries. No file is uploaded.
