Remove metadata and remote-image references
Markdown can include YAML front matter, HTML comments and image references alongside the text you intend to share. This cleaner removes initial front matter and comments outside fenced code. Image-bearing lines and remote reference-definition lines are removed as a whole, including any surrounding text on the same line.
HTTP and HTTPS links outside fenced code have credentials, fragments, common tracking fields and common secret parameters removed. The cleaner does not visit destinations or determine whether the remaining address is private.
Choose what happens to fenced code
Backtick and tilde fences are preserved by default, including the exact text and URLs inside them. Choose the code-removal option to drop fenced blocks instead. Unclosed fences produce an error when removal is selected. Indented and inline code are not separately parsed.
Review the Markdown source
The result is text, not a rendered page. Other raw HTML, ordinary links, local paths and personal details can remain. Removing a reference definition can also break a normal link that uses it. Review the preview and retain the original document.
Processing stays in your browser, with a 2 MiB and 50,000-line input limit. No image is fetched and no Markdown or HTML is executed.
