Make a sharing copy of command history
Shell history can retain a password assignment, an API token or a command that contacted a private service. This cleaner drops whole records containing common secret assignments and supported authentication or network-client commands. That includes commands such as curl, SSH, database clients and common cloud command-line tools.
It reads text only. It never opens your shell, reads history files on its own or executes a command. Optional path prefixes replace local directories in retained records.
Multiline history is ambiguous
zsh extended-history timestamp prefixes identify records, so a multiline record can be discarded as a whole. Plain Bash history does not reliably mark every command boundary. The default stops on recognized continuation, unfinished quoting or other multiline syntax.
If you choose removal for ambiguous Bash input, the cleaner discards the suspect record and every later record. This avoids treating a line from a continued command as a separate safe command. Bash timestamps are removed and zsh timestamp prefixes are stripped.
Patterns cannot recognize every secret
Unfamiliar programs, comments and arbitrary arguments can still contain private values. Review every retained line. The download is text for sharing and should not be run as a script. UTF-8 history up to 2 MiB and 50,000 lines is supported, and all processing stays in this tab.
