JSON redactor

Redact JSON by exact object key names or JSON pointer paths, including array entries. Remove values or replace them with text in your browser.

Up to 2 MiB, 100,000 values and 64 nesting levels. Standard JSON only. Output is rebuilt with indentation.

For example, /users/0/email selects the first user’s email. Use ~1 for a slash in a key and ~0 for a tilde. Keys are case-sensitive and match at every object level. Up to 500 keys and 500 paths.

Removed array entries shift later indexes. Paths match indexes in the original document. Unselected fields remain, including secrets under different key names.

Paste JSON to begin.

Select fields by name or exact path

Key names match exactly and are case-sensitive. A selected name matches properties at every object level, including objects inside arrays. JSON pointers select a particular location, such as /users/0/email for the first user’s email address.

Use ~1 for a slash inside a property name and ~0 for a tilde. Wildcards and the empty pointer for the whole document are not supported. The cleaner accepts up to 500 key names and 500 pointer paths.

Replace a value or remove it

Replacement writes a JSON string in place of the selected value, including a selected object or array. Removal deletes an object property or removes an array entry. Array pointers always refer to indexes in the original input; removing an entry shifts later entries in the result.

Only your selections are redacted. A differently named secret or an email address inside an unselected string remains. Review the complete preview before copying it.

A local JSON transformation

Standard JSON up to 2 MiB, 100,000 values and 64 nesting levels is supported. Comments, JSON Lines and trailing commas are refused. Output formatting is rebuilt, and numeric values follow JavaScript’s JSON number handling, so large integers may lose precision. Keep your original file when exact numeric precision matters.

The document is parsed and rebuilt in your browser. No content is uploaded or stored. Property names such as __proto__ are treated as data.
